I had gastric bypass 12 years ago. Weight has been a constant struggle. The first 2-5 years I went up and down 20-30 pounds. I I got very active and lost enough weight to be a 'perfect size' for my height. That lasted until I had another baby- Now I am up 60 pounds (about 50 away from where I was before surgery)
I feel like a failure. Surgery is not a 100% guarantee you will loose all the weight and keep it off for life.
Gastric Bypass Surgery is an evasive way to Force people to eat smaller portions and change their habits.
Your stomach does stretch again. and if you do not burn off what you take in with exercise and stay active the weight will come back.
Please, Please PLEASE get your B12 injections every month at your doctor (or give them yourself-much cheaper)
I did not keep up on my B12 or vitamins and have suffered painful neuropathy, anemia and other health problems that have onnly started to improve after intense vitamin therapy.
If the gastric bypass teaches us anything it is TAKE CARE OF YOuRSELF! You did this to be HEALTHY.
It is never too late to make the right descisions again (and it sounds like you know what you have done wrong to get off track)
Good Luck.
Eating is an addiction. If an addict takes away his "addiction" he looks for a substitute.

Hey, i haven't had gastric bypass, but I just think it's ridiculous seeing some of hte comments on here. I have heard of people gaining back some weight after gastric bypass and just like everyone else, if you don't watch what you eat, then you may gain weight. Slowly wean yourself off of the frap. Get a smaller one, then work on trying a more low cal drink. Also, I don't know if you've been exercising, but try to incorporate exercise as well. Good luck. Gastric bypass or not, we all struggle with weight

Try the iced coffee with out all the calories made with skim milk or no milk at all. They are only 90 calories or so. They also have sugar free sryups too. Dont put any whipped cream on it though.

If you do use sparingly
Also dont listen to those people who condemn you because you struggle with your weight. I am dealing with my wieght too.

They seriously tick me off and DONT have a clue what we have to deal with..and that we REALLY DONT WANT to be THIS WAY!!

If they keep up their condemming attitudes they may just end up bigger then us. I have seen it to many times.
I am doing Weight Watchers.
I wish you the best hang in there!

Try drinking regular coffee rather than the frothy "dessert drinks" at Starbucks. You'll save money and calories. Otherwise, ask for skim milk, sugar-free, and no whipped cream, or anything else you can do to make it low-fat. Try to make the frappuchinos more of a weekly or monthly treat rather than a daily thing.

Wow, that's the first I've heard of someone actually gaining weight after having a gastric bypass. That is unbelievable! You really need to stop drinking the frappachinos, or at the very least switch to a non-fat, low sugar variety.
