I beleave its prdominantly a liquid diet for a month or so.. because the life threatoning complications are always AFTER the surgery involving the contamination of food int he unhealed stomach.
…Liquid diets are also recommended for some overwieght folks with an acutely slow metabolisim where working out and a 6 meal a day diet doesent work.. YOu would know it… already because technically stapling IS the last resort..

You would have a hard time using the diet from a gastric by-pass patient.
Do you THINK you can eat ONLY 4 oz IN TOTAL for a whole meal?
When you eat, you can NOT drink ANYTHING a half-hour before, the half hour during, and the half hour AFTER you have eaten.
The FIRST 3 to 4 weeks is a PUREED diet, which you eat about 6 times a day at a MAXIMUM of 2 oz per meal.
The SECOND round is about 2 to 3 weeks long, and that consists of semi-soft foods, at abou 3 oz PER MEAL, also 6 times a day.
The THIRD and final round is for GOOD, and THAT is 4 oz. per meal.
THINK your “regular” diet is hard? TRY this.
GASTRIC BY-PASS is NOT easy, no matter what ANYONE thinks.
